Technical Description

Home performance check-ups provide a custom analysis of an existing home to identify potential energy savings measures, estimate the costs of those measures, identify the potential savings, and estimate the expected payback of installing the measures. The Home Energy Score is a web-based analysis tool that qualified assessors can use to conduct a home performance check-up. Other software packages are available for doing the analysis. Some utility programs require home performance check-ups before offering incentives on efficiency improvements.
